Pre-Paid Cards – A Way To Peace Of Mind

  • All of us are skeptical of the misuse of credit cards on online shopping avenues and otherwise. Both cash and credit cards need to be handled with care as they can be used adversely if falls in the hands of a fraudster. If you also fear of its misuse every time you are using one, it is time to put an end to your queries. Pre-paid cards have come to the rescue.

    Pre-paid cards work on the principal of putting a certain amount of money and using at your convenience, almost like pre-paid mobile phones. These cards are not linked with any bank account; therefore, no need to go into the formalities of opening an account while buying a pre-paid card.     • Additional features like insurance, etc. come along.
    • Travel cards, a type of pre-paid card, provide an advantage of paying in one currency and convert the remaining amount into other currency.
    • You can withdraw the leftover money by en-cashing the pre-paid card after the period of use.

    To get a pre-paid card, one needs to fill the required application form and attach documents of identity and address proof along with it. Few banks also ask for a copy of PAN card as well. Pre-paid cards can be used for shopping, paying bills, online transactions etc., with in India, Nepal and Bhutan. Balance enquiry can be made free of cost from ATMs and online.

    Out of these pre-paid cards, travel cards also capture a significant place. These travel cards also work on the principle of loading the cards with money and using it whenever required. In addition to this, you can also pay in rupees in India and buy a travel card of the currency according to your place of travel. In this case, the currency will get converted on the rate, which is there on the day of purchase or refilling of card. Apart from this, travel cards also come with additional features including travel insurance, emergency assistance and advance account management features.

    Your card will be filled with funds at the time of your purchase, which can be used at ATMs or while direct shopping. The value on your decrease according with every purchase or withdrawal of money and can be used till the time it has balance in it.
