| Question 4: Hello, am 20 and when i was 18 i got a student credit card through 1st financial bank. i have had for 2 years now and realized now that i have a regular credit card and build up my credit score that this card is useless. This being because it has a very low limit, no rewards program, and and APR of around 18-21% normal not a default rate or anything. since its my longest running credit card (also have a discover which is i believe 4 months younger and a recently requires amex charge) i would like to get rid of it but not ruin or hurt my credit score and since its been my longest am afraid that it will. Would it be wise to try to apply for another credit card and then when approve drop the 1st financial bank card or am i stuck with them since i have the most history with them. I want to protect my credit score i worked hard to get into the mid 700s and afraid to do damage to my score. what would be my best option and the spending to limit ratio should be effected to much by this card since it has such a low limit anyways and they also wanted to impose a annual fee( which i see no need for with such a low limit) what my best option thank you |
||||
| Answer :
In the current economic scenario, many banks
refrain from issuing credit cards to multiple
cardholders. Moreover, they have also imposed
annual fees on most of their cards. Still
there are some cards that do not charge
annual fees. You can consider such cards and
transfer your outstanding to the new card,
which will come at a low cost, and pay the
bill in instalments. We also suggest you to
close all the unnecessary cards. Please make
sure that you pay your outstanding as soon as
possible, for credit cards levy high interest
rates in the range of 30-40 per cent.

| Answer :
Generally, banks serve you a notice before
attaching your savings account to your credit
card account. As you are not notified by the
bank, you should write to the concerned bank
official. In case he/she doesn’t reply
or act on your letter, approach Banking
Ombudsman in your region. Moreover, even
though you have not made any transactions on
the credit card issued in your name, you are
liable to pay the dues. We will suggest you
to negotiate with the bank to write off some
portion of your dues and opt for one-time
settlement. |

| Question 9: i want a credit card and my salary is 24000pm. |
||||
| Answer :
Currently, banks are exercising caution in
issuing credit cards to individuals. They
have also raised the minimum salary level,
one of the eligibility criteria. Besides,
they are giving preference to the existing
customers over new ones. So if your bank
provides credit card facility, you can apply
through it or else approach other banks which
will check your credit history before issuing
a card.
