Automated Teller Machine or ATM cards are a piece of plastic that enables you to withdraw money from ATMs belonging to the specified network. Since ATMs are mushrooming across the country, a cardholder need not have to enter a bank branch to withdraw money or for other banking transactions.

The issuers of ATM cards are banks that have various customers operating various bank accounts. ATM cards help in the operation of the accounts, so they are issued by the banks themselves.
Accessing money
The prime use of ATM cards is to enable you to withdraw money from the machines located across the country. It brings your bank closer to you. You can access the money in your account from wherever you are, rather than having to land up at your branch within the specified hours.
Additional use
ATM cards facilitate additional services through its usage. You can access your bank balance, apply for a new cheque book, pay your various bills and so on. This makes the features of the card more attractive.
Network used
ATM cards allow you to access your bank account on the network of your bank. This includes the ATM of your bank plus other ATMs that are linked to your bank’s network. Presently, there are charges that you will have to pay when you access ATMs other than that of your bank or those out of the network.
