Is the risk same for all types of deposits?

    May 6th, 2010 by rupeetalk.com
  • The risk element in a deposit is reflected in the type of interest rate that is offered on that deposit. Since banks involve relatively less amount of risk the interest rate offered here is usually lower than the other routes. The determination of interest rate also depends upon the nature of the financial institution and while strong financial institutions will be on the same level as banks some of them might fall in the higher risk category. Company fixed deposits however involve the highest risk and the rate offered here is also comparatively higher in most cases.
