The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked borrowers to be careful of dubious loan providers and verify their credentials before dealing with them. Several fraud loan providers, claiming to have registered with the RBI, are found to be luring people through newspaper advertisements offering personal loans, loans against property and other loans at a very low interest rate. Some of these entities also cheat the public by charging processing fees upfront and then disappear.
